The sixth annual book fair “Hooked on Books … and the Arts Too!” at Chaska High School attracted an estimated 2,000 people on Saturday morning.

This year, volunteers also handed out 1,200 free books to local children, ages pre-school to grade 5.

There were over 30 activities for children, ranging from dancing to live music to decorating “Wild Thing” masks to making “ooey goo.”

Among those offering feedback to District 112 Community Education was a 3-1/2-year-old girl who said, “This is the best day ever.”

Every year, the Carver County Library and District 112 partner to organize and raise funds for Hooked on Books.

“Library and school staff work together on committees throughout the year to help plan the author visit and event activities, secure volunteers for the event, arrange publicity, work with other event sponsors and actively participate in the activities of the day,” stated Carver County Library Director Melissa Brechon.
