The National Weather Service issued a Flood Watch for the Minnesota River at 1:42 p.m. on Thursday afternoon. This watch will remain in effect until further notice.

As of this afternoon, the river is at 9.6 feet in Jordan (the nearest measuring station to Chaska). The flood stage at that location is 25.0 feet, and forecasters believe the river will reach flood stage sometime between the next 7 to 14 days. Any additional rainfall received over the next few days will only serve to increase the height of the anticipated flood crest.

This Flood Watch is in effect for the following counties along the Minnesota River: Chippewa, Lac Qui Parle, Renville, Yellow Medicine, Blue Earth, Brown, Nicollet, Le Sueur, Sibley, Scott, Carver, and Hennepin.
