Wind from the east, weather's a beast...

A wet and foggy day is on tap for Thursday. Expect a high today near 46 degrees, with off-and-on rain showers and winds from the east at up to 10 mph. A Dense Fog Advisory is in effect through 9:00 a.m. for a good portion of southern Minnesota, including Carver County.

Our weather stats include a high on Wednesday of 40 degrees, and a low last night of 33 degrees (average = 40 and 21). The record temps for today are 56 (from 1995) and -5 (set in 1969). The Minnesota River is continuing to rise, sitting at 9.14 feet this morning. Our snowpack was reduced by half again yesterday, so our main future flooding risk will come from snow melting in southwestern Minnesota over the next few days.

When will we see our first "50" of the year? It is looking like that wonderful event could occur as soon as Sunday, when we should finally break out of the clouds! Stay tuned...
