Watershed awards matching funds for environmental improvement projects
The Lower Minnesota River Watershed District, based in Chaska, Minnesota, has created a new program that will award up to $20,000 in matching funds this year to individuals, neighborhoods, or organizations that carry out environmental improvement projects. Funeral Service for Elaine Elizabeth (Ebert) Stelten
Elaine Stelten, 86, of Chaska, died Tuesday, Feb. 14, at her home. Mass of Christian Burial will be held Monday, Feb. 20, at 11:00 a.m. at Guardian Angels Catholic Church, 218 W. 2nd St., Chaska. Security is notched up at Carver County Court
The Star Tribune is reporting that the Carver County Sheriff’s Office has enhanced courthouse security pertaining to a family court case involving Lea Banken, who runs the blog “Carver County Corruption.” As reported earlier, Judge Richard Perkins was considering a motion to shut down the blog. Chaska Middle School East breaks reading record

Students and staff at Chaska Middle School East unofficially broke the world record for the most people in a reading relay for a single book on Wednesday. Some 755 people participated in the record-breaking attempt. Each read one line from Minnesota author Kurtis Scaletta's book "Mudville." Footage from the event will now be sent to the Guinness World Records for verification. The previous record of 290 people was set in Vienna in 2010.

The Bountiful Basket Food Shelf is on the move again. This weekend, volunteers will pack up the food at the food shelf’s existing location at the southwest corner of County Road 61 and Highway 41 and make the short trek up the hill to the old Chaska water treatment plant on Bavaria Road.
