Students at Chaska Middle School East (CMSE) will try to read their way into the record books next Wednesday. As part of “I Love to Read” month, the school’s 690 students plus staff will attempt a reading relay. If successful, they could find themselves as the newest entry in the Guinness Book of World Records. Downtown streets slated for reconstruction in 2012

Chaska won’t reconstruct Second Street this summer as originally planned. Instead, the city will tackle six blocks between First and Second streets – Elm, Cedar, Pine, Walnut, Oak and Ash. Former Chaska resident charged with 13 bank robberies
Former Chaska resident Mark Edward Westch , 49, now of Minneapolis, has been charged with 13 counts of armed banked robberies. The charges emanate from robberies Wetsch allegedly committed between March 9, 2011 and Jan. 3, 2012. Chaska hires new Water and Sewer Superintendent
The City of Chaska has announced the promotion of Matt Haefner to the Water and Sewer Superintendent position. According to a city newsletter, his official start date will be Tuesday, February 21. Allan and Susan Orsen of Victoria both entered guilty pleas this week to charges of careless driving. The Orsens were both arrested for DWI after leaving a holiday party in Victoria Dec. 2.
