Highway 101 has re-opened
Highway 101 between Shakopee and Chanhassen has reopened after it was closed due to a one-vehicle crash this morning. According to Lt. Jason Bartell of the Minnesota State Patrol, five people people were injured in the crash in which an SUV went off the road and struck a tree. Carver County Republicans are on the Rick Santorum bandwagon. By a significant margin Tuesday night, they backed the former Pennsylvania senator in his bid for the Republican presidential nomination. Spaghetti dinner at the American Legion

The Chaska Juniors Volleyball Program is putting on a spaghetti dinner this Friday (Feb. 10) at the Chaska American Legion at 102 4th Street West. Cost is $6. Lunch will be served from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. with dinner from 4 to 8 p.m. Take out orders are available for both meals.

A Federal grand jury has indicted Demetrius Charles Edward Derden, 32, for violation of the Federal Hobbs Act, according to a press release from Carver County Attorney Mark Metz. A 26-year-old suicide victim was found under the Scott County side of the Highway 41 Minnesota River bridge on Sunday evening. According to Det. Sgt. Highway 212 traffic between Highway 41 and Engler Boulevard was shut down for a while around 4 p.m. on Sunday afternoon as local law enforcement responded to a call of a possible gun being thrown out of a vehicle. Sheriff Jim Olson said that his office got a call out of Cologne with reports of a gun falling or being thrown out of a vehicle.
