River still rising dramatically, but crest forecast drops
The Minnesota River is currently at 25.66 feet in Jordan – over a 2-1/2 foot rise in the past three days. The river is now predicted to fall a bit through Saturday, before again rising to a 25.7-foot crest at Jordan next Monday -- almost 2 feet lower than originally predicted. How high's the water mama? 25 feet high and rising
Good grief. Are you as sick as floods as the Chaska Herald staff? Here’s the latest. As of 6:15 a.m., the Minnesota River at Jordan sits at 25.13 feet. Woman sentenced to year in jail for accident that injured Carver mayor
Jan Marie Labine, 47, was sentenced to a year in prison for a drunk driving crash that injured Carver Mayor Greg Osterdyk and Evelyn Grimm during the 2010 Steamboat Days celebration, according to a Carver County Attorney’s Office news release. The Chaska Police Department is holding a Law Enforcement Torch Run at 1 p.m., June 22 in Firemen's Park. The event is tied to Special Olympics Minnesota. Law enforcement from across Minnesota is running the Special Olympics Torch throughout the state, culminating at the Summer Games Celebration Ceremonies on June 24. Flood watch for Minnesota River
The National Weather Service has issued a flood watch for this portion of the Minnesota River. The current estimate calls for a water level of 25.1 feet at Jordan by Tuesday – which could translate into about 5 feet above flood stage for Chaska later this week. “This river forecast is based on forecast rainfall amounts of 2 to 4 inches over the next three days,” notes the national weather service.
Funeral notice for Bonnie Claeys
Bonnie Claeys died unexpectedly at her home in Taunton, MN, on Saturday, June 18, 2011. Among others, she is survived by her son and his family, Curt and Chayna Claeys and Wyatt.
