March 5, 1885: Herald reports our public school building is in dangerous condition and quite likely to tumble down as soon as the frost commences to get out of the ground and parents are withdrawing their children from school. Life should not be endangered for a few months schooling.

March 4, 1886: Herald reports the Masquerade Ball given by the Hose Company boys was a complete success and a brilliant affair. The masks were numerous and costly. The boys cleared about $75, which will help them greatly in purchasing uniforms.
Saturday Night Live skit set in Shakopee
One of the March 3 Saturday Night Live  skits, with guest star Lindsay Lohan, was set in downtown Shakopee. The skit featured obnoxious Minnesota DJs (one nicknamed "The Moose") surrounded by Twins, Vikings and Timberwolves paraphernalia, broadcasting from a radio station in downtown Shakopee. March 3, 1938: Herald reports a new basketball tradition between Waconia and Chaska High School came into existence Friday night when a little brown jug was presented on behalf of the Waconia Patriot and Chaska Herald sports writers. The five-gallon jug will remain in Waconia’s possession until Chaska wins an inter-city series.
School board proceeds with bond plan

The District 112 School Board has approved documentation, required by the state, to go ahead with large maintenance projects. District officials will submit the documentation to the Minnesota Department of Education. Once approved, the district will sell $10 million in bonds to pay for the first three years of its 10-year “Alternative Facility Project” plan.
