Take a ride on the Twin Cities & Western Railroad
Tickets are now available for commemorative passenger rides aboard the Twin Cities & Western Railroad on July 30, and July 31. The TC&W line runs through Chaska and Chanhassen. The money raised by the rides will be donated to the Lake Superior Rail Road Museum (LSRM) at the St. Louis County Heritage and Arts Center in the Depot, according to a LSRM press release. Barbara Saunders, 86, of Chaska, died Tuesday, July 12, 2011 at Friendship Manor Care Center, Shakopee. A private family service will be held at a later date in Michigan. Barbara was born April 2, 1925 in Detroit, MI, to Harold and Ruth (Strong) Stark, one of five children. It was on a visit to her grandmother’s home, when Nicole Bailey hit on her Gold Award project. Bailey, 18, is a lifelong Girl Scout, and recently graduated from Chanhassen High School. Among her senior year projects was completing her Gold Award. In Girl Scouts, the highest honor a scout can achieve is the Gold Award, the equivalent to Eagle Scout in Boy Scouts.
