Area residents, commuters and business owners are invited to an open house to present the final design for a 2012 project that will convert the Highway 212/Highway 284/County Road 53 intersection in Cologne to a 3/4 intersection with U-turns.

The final design will improve safety at the intersection while maintaining mobility for both regional and local traffic. Similar intersections have been installed successfully in Willmar, Minnesota and in other states. The Cologne design also includes elements that address local concerns raised during an extensive public involvement process.

The open house will be held at Cologne Community Center, 1211 Village Parkway, Wed., Feb. 22 5:30 p.m. to 7 p.m.

The project’s layout and design and other displays will be available for viewing throughout the open house, and attendees will be able to get questions answered directly from project representatives and local officials. No formal presentation is planned.

I wonder what people are thinking, even with these u-turns, most of the residents go east for work, and you take the left turn away from the main town.

I hope the developer to the south likes it cause that is the towns only hope or the monkey on their back, which ever why you look at it. I think cologne needs to take a page out of carver's book and cr11.

To spend money on this only to make it a messed up intersection. Not too sure why mn for didn't propose a over or under pass cause that is what it is going to be once that gets developed. Do it right the first time. Can't believe the city of cologne even went for it.

Take a look at 169.....after how many tes they redid that and now finally getting it right.
