Chaska’s 16th Christmas in May is May 19, 2012.

Christmas in May-Chaska is a local non-profit organization that enlists volunteers and coordinates a one-day work project to repair and rehabilitate the homes of Chaska residents who don’t have the financial or physical ability to accomplish.

Skilled and unskilled volunteers do the work, which can include painting, plumbing, carpentry, electrical work, hauling, cleaning, and landscaping.

Christmas in May-Chaska, modeled after a national program, began in 1996, when volunteers in Chaska decided to devote one day in May to repair and spruce up the homes of low-income, disabled, and elderly neighbors in the community.

It is offered at no cost to the home owner and a community bonding experience, not only for the homeowners, but for the many volunteers who participate with cash contributions, materials, and labor.

Potential applicants with homes in need of repairs that they cannot make themselves, or afford to hire others to accomplish, can contact Christmas in May-Chaska by March 15, 2012 at (952) 361-5350.
